Esther Leung-Kong
Esther is the Outreach Ministries Manager at Culture Regeneration Research Society (CRRS). She trains young volunteer leaders to serve under-provided children in rural China and locally in Vancouver. She is also an educator on various topics that serve the local community. CRRS’ ministries are guided by love to foster mutual understanding through leadership, academic & publishing, multimedia outreach, caring for the marginalized through education assistance (student sponsorship), working with under-provided families and journeying with the Indigenous community.
CRRS became an official partner with local non-profit Vancouver Urban Ministries (VUM) in 2016 and sponsored First Nations students to attend their tutoring program. In 2020, Esther started a free summer camp for children from low-income families in East Vancouver.
Praise:
- Give thanks for the “Born to Shine Summer Camp” hosted by CRRS in partnership with VUM at Chinatown Peace Church where 40+ kids attended this meaningful ministry and were shown God’s love in a tangible way. We may be the only one completely free camp in the Chinatown area for inner-city kids to join which includes a meal. A special appreciation for FLC church member’s support including: Alison Stack for cooking and raising funds for the whole camp's lunch including feeding 40+ kids and 20 youths/adults, Justin Ng (No Frills Grocery Store) for sponsoring food items, Chiu Chan for teaching a cartoon workshop through his creative characters from Buddysaurus with our camp kids. We are also thankful for our 17 camp leaders (volunteers) in which 7 of them are from FLC, including Pastor Nathan who helped out and supported the team.
- Thankful for this new initiative: For Truth & Reconciliation Day and the 94 days that follows, I have started a social media campaign that will post the 1 call to action (in Chinese) from the “Truth & Reconciliation 94 Calls to Action” on our new IG account @trc94Chinese. This is to raise awareness among the Chinese communities to learn more and participate in Truth & Reconciliation with the Indigenous community. I have also given a Mandarin workshop on the topic of “Chinese & First Nation Peoples’ shared stories and heritage” on October 2nd, 2025.
Prayer:
- We are still recruiting volunteer music teachers for our “Eagle Youth Music School” to serve inner kids in providing free one-on-one private music lessons. Please pray that we will be able to recruit enough piano and guitar teachers.
- Community Helping Program: In the 3 years I’ve been running this program to help Indigenous families in great need in the area of groceries. With the rising price of groceries and cost of living, many families especially single parent families are reaching out for support, the need has increased in the last few years. Pray for these families in need and there can be a way for them to find financial relief, and for church communities to give that support when needed.
- Christmas Hamper 2025 Campaign: This will be coming up soon, please pray for this year’s upcoming Christmas Hamper Campaign that we will have enough people to donate Christmas Hampers or monetary donations towards the great needs among the low-income families in our city.
