Missions Highlight - Tombert & Joyce Chen

Tombert and Joyce are thankful for the years of ministry with Youth for Christ/Youth Unlimited (24 and 16 years respectively). God has always shown them His mercy and grace.

Thank you so much for your prayer and support over the year.

Coming into June, it has been incredibly eventful. 

Our youth continue to make care packages for the Downtown East Side (DTES). We have delivered over 2,700 packages since November 2025. This has been an amazing journey from starting out with a small group to hand out hot drinks and P&J sandwiches (pre-Covid) to changing our format to involve numerous youth in the assembly line process of making upgraded care packages that contain multiple snacks, drink, origami item and occasionally, socks or an emergency blanket.

In the middle of June we had our 14th volunteer trip to Camp Stillwood just in the past 2.5 years. This has been God’s answered prayer unlike what I could have imagined. Starting with His whisper, “You can fix that”, has led me to bring my guys (Burnett youth) on volunteer trips to experience God’s creation and goodness in a nature-filled environment. This has created opportunities to have God-filled discussions in the evening after watching shows like "The Chosen". God is so Good. Stillwood Camp really loves our group and we will be going back on July 14-18th. Please pray for the trip and the guys that are going as well.

At the end of May, I was invited for the 4th time to attend Youth for Christ’s Summer Institute. I was a part of the staff  who taught, led, and guided the 30+ new youth workers from around the country.  It was a privilege to be involved in this training. These new staff seem to be more savvy than past years. They are still learning to implement what they know (like all of us), but I found that they also have a lot of “baggage” they are carrying with them too. Overall, they are amazing people with a great heart for the Lord, and God is going to use them in wonderful ways.

• Joyce and I do not have full support at this time and we are looking for new partners in ministry. Feel free to contact us for more information.
  
  
• The Youth Unlimited Admin team is short staffed so pray for Joyce and her co-workers as they fill in the gaps.
  
  
• For our summer youth programs to be guided by the Holy Spirit and impactful.
  
  
• Students who are graduating and leaving the school where they had lots of support dealing with their issues (i.e. anxiety & mental health issues).
