"Be Still and Know"

Dear Fraser Lands Church,                                                                        Cantonese 粵語Mandarin 國語

In this time of uncertainty, fear, worry, and anxiety, I believe that the Lord wants to speak His Word of truth into us, to encourage us, to uphold us…to give us hope in these times.

We gather together as a church today in a different way, but in no less a meaningful way. For, you see, the body of Christ is not a building, nor is it a program, or a worship service. The body of Christ is when the people of God gather in His name, whether it be in person or on-line. Today, because of the situations and circumstances happening in our world, we gather as the body of Christ on-line (wherever we may be), to worship the Lord, to praise His goodness, to recognize His sovereignty, to interact with His Word, and to hear what He has to say to us as His beloved bride – to us as Fraser Lands Church.

First, I would like for you to interact with the Scripture passages below, to reflect on some of the questions, and to hear what the Lord may be saying to us in such a time as this.

“Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus Christ, Spirit of the living God, be with your people I pray as we encounter you through your Word. Give us ears to hear, eyes to see, and hearts to obey. Help us to know and to understand your great love for us your people. And give us hope and compassion for a world that is in desperate need of your presence in our lives.”

Read Psalm 46:1-11 and Psalm 23:1-6.

Read through these psalms again. But this time, read it through slowly and meditate on these words from God. Spend time in His presence, take your time. Highlight the words or verses that seem to jump out at you. Linger in these words from the Lord.

Lord, what do you want to show me as to who you are? What do you want to say to me?

Listen to the Lord’s voice in Scripture. What is He saying to you? What does He want to encourage you in?

What message of hope do I have to share with the world around me during this time?

How can I be a loving presence of Christ in my neighborhood? In the places in which I live, in the places in which I work, and in the places in which you have put me?

Second, I would like to share a few words with our church as to what has been happening lately, how we got here, and what the Lord may want us to do going forward as a church. Please view the video here. May the Lord encourage you and use you to encourage others as you share your stories and testimonies of how you worshiped God today and what He may have said to you. It is our fellowship with one another that makes us the church and not because we gather in a church building each and every week. So, FLC, let us bless one another this week as to how we have overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the power of our testimony!

In His love,
Pastor Abe
