Sharing God's Love Through Clothing & Meals

One piece of clothing, a little warmth. One meal, a little care.

As the days grow colder, let us remember our neighbours who are struggling with homelessness and poverty, and share God's love in practical ways by bringing them warmth, food, and care.

For the 4th consecutive year, we warmly invite the brothers and sisters of Fraser Lands Church to participate in our annual clothing drive, organized by the Love Our Neighbors Cantonese Small Group in support of NightShift Street Ministries — a Christian non-profit that has been serving people experiencing poverty, addiction, and homelessness in Surrey since 2004.

According to the 2025 Metro Vancouver Homeless Count, 1,078 people were experiencing homelessness in Surrey, the second-highest number in Metro Vancouver after Vancouver. This represents an increase of about 67% since 2020, reminding us of the growing need for compassion and practical support in our community.

Throughout the year, NightShift serves hot meals every evening and provides clothing, mobile health services, professional care and counselling, a drop-in resource centre, a women-only extreme weather shelter, and other practical support for people facing difficult circumstances.

Since 2023, Fraser Lands Church has supported NightShift through our annual clothing drive. Since August 2025, we have also been providing 100 meals every month, prepared in our church kitchen by different fellowships and small groups and delivered to NightShift for its evening meal ministry in Surrey.

Through our clothing donations and monthly meals, we help NightShift continue providing clean, warm clothing and nourishing food, enabling our neighbours in need to endure another cold and hungry night with dignity, hope, and care.

How You Can Participate

Please bring your clothing donation to church during one of the collection dates in accordance with the following guidelines and accepted items:

Clothing Collection Dates: October 11 & 18, 2026 (before and after services)

Clothing Donation Guidelines 

All donated clothing items MUST be:

• New or gently used, with no damage
• Clean and laundered
• Street-appropriate casual wear (no formal clothing)
• Preferably dark or neutral colours
• Adult sizes only (no children’s clothing)

Accepted Items Only:

• Men's jeans/pants: Sizes 26–34
• Women's jeans/pants: Sizes 2–10
• All sizes: Sweaters, hoodies, sweatpants, jackets, raincoats, t-shirts (short and long-sleeved)
• Underwear, socks (NEW only)
• Towels and face cloths (NEW only)
• Shoes: Runners, sneakers, hiking shoes or boots (no high heels)
• Cold-weather essentials: Winter coats, gloves, toques, scarves, windbreakers (long or short), sleeping bags, blankets, etc.
• Backpacks (no damage)

Since August 2025, a number of fellowships and small groups from our Cantonese, Mandarin, and English congregations have taken turns preparing 100 meals once a month in our church kitchen for NightShift's evening outreach in Surrey.

We warmly invite your fellowship or small group to adopt one month (or more) in 2027 and participate in this meaningful ministry of serving our neighbours through a home-cooked meal.
