Help for Lytton Fire Evacuees - Sustaining the Plan

Updated: September 14, 2021

We made our fifth delivery on Sunday September 5, 2021, with six vehicles to Merritt. In addition to our regular delivery of supplies, we prepared 50 packaged meals to distribute to the people in Merritt when we attended a worship service at Somang Mission Community that afternoon. Ten members from Fraser Lands Church and 16 members from Richmond Capstan Alliance Church made this trip and had a wonderful time of fellowship and ministry. Somang Mission Community is a ministry started by a Korean missionary catering to the Indigenous people in Merritt and surrounding area.

Our sixth delivery trip was on Friday September 10, 2021. Due to a recent COVID outbreak in the community, we delivered all the supplies to Skuppah Fire Relief Centre. Five SUVs were fully loaded for this trip with 12 members from both churches including Pastor Abe and Deb. After dropping off the supplies, we had a good chat with Romona Baxter and her daughter Jade (who runs the relief centre) about their experience and the latest needs of the Lytton community. We drove through the main street of the burnt down village and witnessed the total devastation caused by the June 30 wildfire.

We are continuing our work with Richmond Capstan Alliance Church to collect and deliver supplies to the fire evacuees in the coming months on a regular basis. Please continue to support us with your prayers and donations. Click here for the lastest updates.
