Missions Highlight - Don & Betty

Hello! We are your international workers, working as area directors in Central Asia and the Middle East. We have been serving since 1998, first in Poland, then in the Middle East, and then moved to a former Soviet state in Central Asia this February. Last month we received the news that our residency permit was denied, so we are now moving to another country in the Middle East, where Don will be preaching sometimes in an international church there. As well, we will be giving leadership to our local team there, continuing to serve as area directors, and will also be taking on a new project—that of heading up the Alliance initiative of helping Ukrainian refugees in partnership with the local Polish church. Thanks so much for holding us in your prayers!

PRAISE

  1. For the October regional gathering. After so many hiccups and complications, it came together so beautifully. I would have to say that it has been my favourite gathering ever over all the years. The most special thing about it is that we could see workers who had been feeling a bit isolated and burdened come together, celebrate victories, share challenges, and see what God is doing among us. And connections were made that had not been there before, as due to covid and other factors, we have not had a gathering in a few years. The children/youth workers we found after much searching, a Child Evangelism Fellowship worker were a blessing as well, and shared that they themselves were blessed by being there. Thanks so much for lifting us in prayer.

  2. For Anita Leung’s visit. She has been such an encouragement and blessing—we so enjoy her spirit of adventure and generous engagement here as she tried local food, prayed over the city with us from a small mountain top which also included visiting a small free zoo, met some dear friends, participated in a total of THREE church services on Sunday, and spent special time with us as a group, and then individually. It was great to get personal news from Fraser Lands Church and praise God together.

  3. For peace and confirmation that our “unplanned” move has been carefully orchestrated by God. The warmth and joy that the team where we will be moving to is receiving us, and the great peace and joy in our hearts make us confident that this is the right step.

  4. A Bible study that we are hosting here is full of students, half of whom are seekers from various different faiths. We are studying the Gospel of John, and the questions asked are deep and rich and full of great questions.

PRAYER

  1. For a smooth transition from here to there, including paperwork. Target moving date: Jan. 20 or so. Praying for a furnished apartment within our price range.

  2. For smooth transition of our Bible Study group to a new host and leader, and that the seekers will become finders. There are 6 or so seekers and about 6 followers.

  3. For wisdom as we travel to Poland to assess the current status of the Ukranian refugee project. That we will have divine appointments to connect with the right people so we can follow the Father’s leading in this endeavor.

  4. For God’s kingdom to come here in the CAMELands (Central Asia/Middle East) as it is in heaven.

Thank you so much for your prayers!
