Missions Highlight - Don & Betty

Hello! We are Don and Betty, Area Directors for Central Asia and the Middle East. The main part of our job is to care for the international workers in our region, whose mandate is "to multiply disciples in the hard and dark places, leading to churches being planted and communities being transformed." There are currently 16 couples or singles in our region—5 in Central Asia,  9 in the Middle East, and 2 currently on home assignment in Canada. Our couples mostly work in the church development and marketplace strategies, connecting with a number of least reached people groups in which either Islam or Judaism is the majority religion. In addition, besides being assistant pastor in a local international church, Don is taking the lead in our relief and development project in Poland, working with Ukrainian refugees. It is our joy to do whatever we can to see that our workers are equipped for this God-given task, supporting and guiding them as we journey together.

Praise and Prayer Requests:

  • Praise God for a new lead pastor in our city. Pray for this dear couple's transition as they have moved into the region in the beginning of July. Please pray in particular for the mass of paperwork and permissions that need to move smoothly for them to be able to stay. Pray for favour and speed.

  • Praise God for the wisdom and favour that pastor Dave, the previous lead pastor, will be able to bring full-time into managing the church compound, a complex and valuable role. Pray for our friends as they will need to raise money now for part of their support, something new.

  • Pray for our workers learning language at this time (2 couples and a single).

  • Pray for funds to come in regularly to support the monthly needs for our Ukrainian Response project, and for those in this project.

  • Pray for open, hungry hearts for the message of the hope we have in Jesus Christ throughout our region, and for boldness and wisdom for our workers to share that hope and bring many to faith.
