Newcomers Welcome Luncheon 2026 Recap

Connect Café Ministry held its 8th Newcomers Welcome Luncheon on April 26th, 2026. The fun-filled event was attended by 35 newcomers. Guests felt welcomed and right at home based on the feedback we received from them. The personal "Connect Stories" shared by two newcomers and three long time members, were deeply inspiring. Our speakers shared about their experiences at FLC, including how they got connected and what encouraged them to make FLC their home church. Once again, the common message running through all their stories, was a "sense of belonging, family, home & community". More specifically, “home” is where one can simply be oneself and there is unconditional love or acceptance. On another note, a guest commented that Pastor Abe's reflection on Fraser Lands Church history and vision was particularly insightful.

After a delicious meal and homemade desserts prepared by our very own FLC bakers, guests excitedly and eagerly dove headfirst into the icebreaker games. There was no shortage of energy and enthusiasm as participants got to know one another. Of course, some fun competition for prizes generously donated by Starbucks, Romer's Burger Bar, Independent Grocer, spurred participants on. Based on the smiles and laughter and the fact that participants were so deeply engrossed in the icebreaker activities, we're confident that both newcomers & FLC members  enjoyed their winnings, but more importantly, they appreciated the opportunity to make new friends!
