Pastor Monique is passionate about sharing her love for God and His Word with others. Having served in Children's and Youth Ministries from a young age, she finds great joy in helping kids discover the truths of God with curiosity and wonder. Seeing children and youth connect with God in a personal way inspires everything she does.
Growing up, Monique’s family had the unique opportunity to live in all the prairie provinces. She is grateful for the friendships she formed over the years and the deep appreciation she gained for the unity we share in Christ across cultures and communities. While serving in different churches, Monique felt a clear calling to ministry and pursued Christian education at Canadian Bible College in Regina, SK. It was there that she met and married Rev. Joe Chan, and they have happily served in ministry together ever since. Following God's leading, Monique stepped into formal ministry before the pandemic, became accredited with The Alliance in 2021, and has served in both children's and youth pastoral roles. She is excited to now serve as the Assistant Children's Ministry Pastor at FLC.
Monique and Joe love serving God together and sharing adventures with their three quickly growing children—Caleb, Noah, and Lia. In her free time, you’ll often find Monique lost in a good book, exploring hiking trails, or pretending to run in Coquitlam while keeping an eye out for bears and birds.
