Bearer of Christmas Tidings

On Monday December 9th, we delivered 51 Christmas Hampers and 9 gift baskets to Lytton. The quality of hampers was excellent and thoughtful. A BIG thank you to all who participated in filling the hampers. The designated recipients will be thrilled when they open the hampers. You all have made it happen – bringing joy and Christmas tidings to the Lytton families.

During our delivery trip, we met up with key leaders in the Lytton community whom we have gotten to know well since the 2021 fire. We talked about the Lytton rebuilding plan in 2025 and toured the mayor’s house in the village that is under construction. We also visited the nearly completed Lytton Chinese History Museum.

Regarding the Chinese History Museum, they were able to salvage quite a few historical items from the fire. However, they are looking for additional artifacts, cultural objects, or other items that provide a picture of Chinese living in British Columbia since the mid 1800's. If you are aware of such items (from your parents and/or grand parents) please contact Nicholas at 778-323-3122. These items will enrich the Lytton Chinese History Museum’s collections and help rebuild one of the major attractions of Lytton. 

It should be noted that the Lytton Chinese History Museum was started and managed by a longtime Lytton resident and pioneer who is non-Chinese. It was out of her love and respect for the Chinese workers in Lytton that started the Museum in 2016. The Museum is committed to preserving and presenting the history of Chinese people in Lytton and the Interior of British Columbia.       

We are looking ahead to 2025 in our Help for Lytton Ministry. There will be mission trips for the May long weekend and Labour Day long weekend. Please plan ahead and prayerfully consider joining us on those trips.
