List of Elder Candidates from the Nominating Committee

Good morning FLC! How are you? May the peace of the Lord be with you! In the past couple of months, the Elder Nominating Committee had established a process for considering potential elder nominees. We have followed that process and have prayerfully considered and approached various members in good standing to fill the 6 elder vacancies that we have for this upcoming year. And so, on behalf of the Nominating Committee, I would like to announce to you the list of elder candidates for our upcoming AGM on April 25, 2021. The names of these 6 elder candidates are Lachmi Asnani-Ma, Fritz Baylen, Justin Chan, Joyce Chen, Lester Marr, and Dat Wong. Alongside of these are 2 current elders who have one year left in their term. They are Nicholas Lai and Samantha Tsui. If elected, these 6 elder candidates + our 2 current elders would form the Elders Board for this coming year, which can have a maximum of 8 elders + the senior pastor.

Now, there is a 2-week period until March 21 in which FLC members in good standing have the option to propose other elder nominees. These additional nominations may be made by any 3 eligible members by submitting the name of the nominee in writing on an approved nomination form to the senior pastor by March 21. The proposed nominee must consent to being nominated by 3 members before a nomination form is submitted to the senior pastor. You can find this nomination form below. However, before proposing other nominees, I would ask that you prayerfully read through the ‘Elder Nomination and Selection Guidelines’ and the ‘Pastors and Elders Covenant’ that states both the qualifications and responsibilities of an elder. These guidelines and covenant are also available on this page.

Won’t you please join me in praying for our AGM on April 25 and also the election process of our elders for the upcoming elder term – let us pray!

“Lord Jesus, we ask that your will be done in our church as we elect our elders for this coming year. Lord, you alone know the hearts of people and we pray you will choose those whose hearts and wills are fully surrendered and submitted to you. Give us prayerful discernment and wisdom to know who you are calling to serve in this role as an elder of FLC for such a time as this. Lord Jesus, we ask for men and women who are wise, discerning, humble, able to teach, prayerful, and full of the Holy Spirit! We thank you and commit all of our elder candidates and election process to you. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!”

In His love,
Pastor Abe
