Esther Leung-Kong

Esther is the Outreach Ministries Manager at Culture Regeneration Research Society (CRRS). She trains young volunteer leaders to serve under-provided children in rural China and locally in Vancouver. She is also an educator on various topics that serve the local community. CRRS’ ministries are guided by love to foster mutual understanding through leadership, academic & publishing, multimedia outreach, caring for the marginalized through education assistance (student sponsorship), working with under-provided families and journeying with the Indigenous community.

CRRS became an official partner with local non-profit Vancouver Urban Ministries (VUM) in 2016 and sponsored First Nations students to attend their tutoring program. In 2020, Esther started a free summer camp for children from low-income families in East Vancouver.

Praise:

  • Thankful for the opportunity to teach a “Music Appreciating and Singing Class” in an Indigenous-focus school in East Vancouver since September 2023. Giving the gift of music and serving closely with these children blesses my heart deeply.

  • In August 2024 CRRS and VUM ran the “Born to Shine Summer Camp” at Chinatown Peace Church where 40+ kids attended this meaningful ministry and were shown God’s love in a tangible way. We are thankful for our 18 young camp leaders (volunteers) and the workshop sponsors: Kung Fu & Lion Dance, Darts Throwing, and Lego Robotics.

  • Praise God for a series of six Mandarin workshops I held online and recorded for the Chinese community to learn about “Indigenous Peoples, the colonial history of Indian Residential School, Truth & Reconciliation and various related topics” earlier this year in Feb. to April.

  • Praise God for the Mother’s Day high tea event we put together for mothers in the community that we serve. We thank you for those who donated and made food for this celebration.

Prayer:

  • In the past year, I have witnessed and supported a few Indigenous families going through the sudden loss of family members who passed away under the age of 45 years old. I supported these families in various ways such as helping with planning the funeral, raising funds for various needs, creating slide shows/graphics for the funeral service, and playing piano or singing for the funeral. It has been a privilege to journey with the matriarchs of the families (mothers/grandmothers) by listening, comforting and praying with them. Please pray for these families to find peace during heartbreaking grief, and the strength to lead and raise the next generation.

  • Christmas Hamper 2024 Campaign: We are praying for enough people to donate Christmas Hampers towards the great needs among the low-income families in Vancouver area.
