"David on the Run"
1 Samuel 21:1-15

In 1 Samuel 21, David's exile begins in earnest. Saul's jealousy has matured, and now the Israelite king is actively seeking to kill David. David is now considered an enemy of the state and he is driven to desperation. He gets help from the High Priest at Nob (holy bread and a sword) and then has a close shave with the king of Gath, Achich, saving his life by acting crazy.

In all this the question is, "What is God doing?" The answer is that God is bringing about his kingdom through the suffering of the messiah. The way God works is not the way of the world, but it is the way of life and salvation.

The election of elders will be at our upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) on April 27, 2025. The Elder Nominating Committee has nominated the following elder candidates for this year to fill 4 open positions. They are Berlinda Chan, Justin Chan, Joyce Chen, and Nicholas Lai. Deene Trazona is transitioning into the role as Facilities Cleaning Supervisor from his previous role as Facilities Assistant. 

We welcome Joe Wang who has been hired as our new full-time Facilities Assistant. Joe will be joining Deene and Evan on the Facilities Team.

Join us for a night of worship, prayer and reflection. We will be transforming the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) into a free flowing worship space - all are welcome! You are invited to bring a blanket or small rug to stand and sit on (we will also provide chairs for those who may need it)! Pastor Ben will be leading a five week class looking at the book of Lamentations. This important book raises important spiritual questions about the sovereignty of God and suffering. While the modern Christian church has not delved seriously into Lamentations, it is one of the most read and treasured books in the Jewish faith.

In this class we will walk through the book, chapter at a time, seeking to understand the book in its own context. We will discuss the history, literary and theology of the book. However, this study will raise more contemporary questions that we will discuss: how to walk through a season of suffering? How to walk with another who is in a season of suffering? Why does God allow suffering at all? My prayer is that this book will both deepen your understanding of the scriptures and your walk with the Lord.

There will be some homework assigned in the class to help you interact with the book.

Join us as we gather for worship, reflection, personal prayer time, and corporate prayer for important needs and issues. Let us come together to give thanks, pray for the world, our city, our church, and for each other.

Alpha is for anyone who would like to explore the questions of life. The talks are designed to encourage conversation and explore the basics of the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. Dinner is included and the cost is free for guests. Staff Updates
Pastor Monique Chan will be starting as the Assistant Children’s Ministry Pastor on April 1, 2025. She will be working part-time alongside Pastor Becky Lim to serve in our Children’s Ministry. We give thanks to God for bringing Pastor Monique on staff at FLC, and we ask for your continued prayers for all of our lay leaders & volunteers as well as our staff & elders so that our whole church will passionately grow in the love and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
