Two Whirlwind Trips to Lytton

Within a span of four days, we made two trips to Lytton.

On March 30 a team of 11 members in 5 vehicles made a delivery trip to Lytton (Skuppah Relief Centre and Lytton Resiliency Centre) and conducted a technol clinic to help people with their computers and smartphones. We also brought along a hairdresser to do haircuts. Both activities were big hits, and our schedule was overwhelmed from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. We ended up staying there until past 4 p.m. Even the Mayor of Lytton showed up to get help from Paul - our computer expert. Some brought a picture to show the type of haircut they wanted. Our hairdresser Lola was working nonstop without a lunch break! What love and dedication!

On April 2 another team of 11 members travelled to Kumsheen Rafting Resort to serve at a reunion BBQ organized by Two Rivers Community Service Society. The weather was perfect and the turn out was great with over 200 people arriving from Ashcroft, Kamloops, Merritt, Lillooet, and Camp Hope. We served over 180 hamburgers and 150 hot dogs non-stop. The highlight of the day was meeting up with many Lyttonites. Some we have met through the previous trips we made to Lytton and Camp Hope. Others are new people who have heard about our relief efforts.

We brought along 115 Easter Boxes and 100 crafted soaps as gifts to the attendees. The Easter Boxes were beautifully decorated by many of our church members and the soaps were handmade by a group of mental health consumers in Vancouver. They all carry a message of encouragement to the Lyttonites. It was a blessing for us to witness those impacted by the Lytton devastation smiling and enjoying being together again.

With the huge success of the reunion BBQ, they are talking about a second reunion in July when the weather is warmer. We will definitely be there to serve them again.

Our supply delivery to Lytton will continue because there are still no stores available for their day-to-day needs. Please check with the list of needed supplies and support us with your prayer and donation. Our next delivery trip will likely be in late April, and we are planning another technol clinic/haircut trip for the May long weekend.

If you have any ideas about supporting Lytton or wanting to participate in our future trips, please contact us.
