On the one hand, prayer is talking to God, simply that. He is there, we open our mouths and speak to Him. We have been taught various patterns and ways of prayer, but these are just “helps” for us to speak. On the other hand, when I pray I bring my whole self before the living God of the universe. I come with all my confusion, tiredness, wounds and more. Prayer is a transformative experience that is integrated into my life because it is the real me meeting with the real God. Learning to pray is like learning to love; it doesn't happen in a moment, but it does happen. In this series we will seek to learn to pray.

Many of us find it difficult to pray. It feels weird and awkward and hard. We hear of prayer warriors who connect deeply with God, yet we feel hollow. We need to learn to pray.

Psalm 23 gives us a vision for a praying life. It is a warm expression of love and trust. Many of us find it difficult to relate to because one of the key problems in our world is cynicism, the feeling that behind every promise is an ulterior motive - that deep down, everyone is out for themselves. Trusting someone makes us vulnerable, trusting God makes us existentially vulnerable.

And yet, the cynical life leads us to be cold, hard and lonely. In Psalm 23 we are taught to trust God with our whole hearts.

There is always a need for blood donations. Giving blood is a tangible way the Church can serve our community.

Canadian Blood Services is hosting a blood donation event at Fraser Lands Church and a blood donation centre will be set up in the Multi-Purpose Room on Thursday September 5th for our surrounding community to come and give blood.

We will be ambitious and kick off our new school year and celebrate what God did at Teens Camp together! Students in Grades 7 to 12 are welcome and invited to join! Find out what is in store for FLC Youth this year!

The Safety and Risk Management Training Seminar is mandatory for all volunteers serving with minors in Children's and Teens Ministry. All new and prospective volunteers are required to take the Full Training course in person on Sunday September 8, 2024 at 1pm-3pm. Volunteers who have previously taken the Full Training are required to take the annual Refresher Course. Whether you are taking the Full or Refresher Training, please sign up below. The registration deadline is Friday September 6, 2024.

Everyone has questions about life. What is my purpose? What happens when I die? Why is there suffering? Alpha is a chance to ask these big questions and explore the Christian faith in a safe, low-key, relaxed environment. Each interactive session includes dinner, a short film, and a discussion. As we approach another year of school, work, small groups, and programs at church, the worship ministry would love to invite you to a night of regrouping, refocusing, and praying.

Join us as we celebrate and prepare for the upcoming year through worship, activities, fellowship, prayer, and guidance from Pastor Ben, where the focal point of the night will be to explore and seek out what God has in plan for our Church and ourselves. Hope to see you there!

Feeling tired or discouraged as a ministry leader? Not sure if you have what it takes to continue? The apostle Paul also faced tremendous pressure in his ministry. In 2 Corinthians he shares many unique perspectives on how to be an exemplary and effective minister. Let's come together for a few months to study God's Word and to help each other to reflect and recharge.

MOMENTUM is hosting a once-a-month sports get-together for men in the Multi-Purpose Room. All men are welcome to attend and are encouraged to invite a friend! Activities include pickleball, badminton, volleyball and basketball. No experience necessary. Space is limited. If you are interested in participating, please sign up here. 

Parents! We will be hosting a night for you on September 20th. Whether you have a new teenager and want to see how youth ministries will serve your child, curious about what our focus will be this year, or even looking for some encouragement/prayer as parents in raising a teenager in 2024, we'd love to spend an evening connecting with each other.

Awana restarts in-person on Saturday September 21st. A weekly club for kids ages Preschool to Grade 6. Clubbers focus on memorizing God's Word, participate in exciting games, sing songs, share with one another, do occasional crafts, and build long lasting friendships. Click here for more details.

MOMENTUM is hosting our fall men's ministry luncheon on Sunday, September 22nd. Lunch can be purchased for $10 or you can bring your own lunch.
